Dough and Filling
- 1 can crescent roll dough sheet
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Cream Cheese Icing Glaze
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare the oven and muffin tin
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray 6 sections of a muffin tin with cooking spray and set it aside. - Prepare the dough
Roll out the crescent roll dough sheet onto a clean kitchen work surface. Brush the surface of the dough with melted butter, ensuring an even coating. - Mix the cinnamon-sugar filling
In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the buttered dough, using all of it for maximum flavor. - Roll and slice the dough
Starting from the shorter side closest to you, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape. Using a serrated knife or sharp knife, slice the log into six equal pieces. - Bake the rolls
Place each roll, cut side up, into the prepared muffin tin sections. Bake for 11-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Once baked, place the muffin tin on a wire rack and let the rolls cool slightly. - Prepare the cream cheese glaze
In a medium-sized bowl, use a hand mixer to whip the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined. Then, add the melted butter and continue mixing until smooth. - Adjust glaze consistency
Add the milk one tablespoon at a time, mixing after each addition, until the glaze reaches a thick but pourable consistency. - Finish and serve
Remove the rolls from the muffin tin, pour the glaze over the warm rolls, and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
- Use crescent dough sheets for simplicity. If using regular crescent rolls, pinch the seams together to form a sheet.
- These can be frozen for later use. Simply reheat before serving.
- Glaze the cinnamon rolls while they are still warm for the best flavor.
- Adding a pinch of cinnamon to the glaze is a delightful twist.
- This recipe can be doubled or tripled to accommodate more servings.
- To easily cut the dough, use unflavored dental floss for clean slices.
- A fantastic choice for beginners trying cinnamon rolls for the first time!
