Description

Celebrate Independence Day with these festive 4th of July Cookies! Soft and chewy, these colorful treats are perfect for any patriotic gathering.


Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cold, unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed (dark or light)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cups milk chocolate chips (or less if desired)
  • Red and blue gel food coloring
  • Edible glitter stars

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Combine dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, yolks, and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients. Mix in chocolate chips.
  2. Color Dough: Divide dough into 3 sections. Color two sections red and blue using gel food coloring.
  3. Shape and Bake: Roll each section into logs. Combine logs, slice, roll into balls, and place on baking sheets. Bake and decorate with glitter stars.
