Chicken Drumsticks
- 4 pounds Chicken drumsticks, about 12 pieces
Spices and Seasonings
- 2 tablespoons Garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons Onion powder
- 2 tablespoons Chili powder
- 2 tablespoons Smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon Ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
Sauce
- 2 cups Sugar-free BBQ sauce or low sugar BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: In a mixing bowl, add the chicken drumsticks along with garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Using clean hands, generously rub the seasoning mixture all over each drumstick ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Marinate: Refrigerate the seasoned chicken for at least 30 minutes to allow the spices to penetrate and infuse the meat with flavor.
- Preheat Oven: While marinating, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a roasting tin with aluminum foil for easy cleanup if desired.
- Arrange Drumsticks: Transfer the drumsticks onto a wire rack placed inside the roasting tin. Make sure to leave a little space between each piece for even cooking.
- Bake First Round: Place the drumsticks in the middle of the preheated oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking for uniform browning.
- Apply BBQ Sauce: Remove the drumsticks from the oven and brush each piece generously with the sugar-free BBQ sauce.
- Bake with Sauce: Return the drumsticks to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes. Then flip the drumsticks and brush with BBQ sauce again, baking for another 10-15 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately while hot and juicy. Enjoy the tender BBQ chicken with your favorite sides.
