Description

These festive Christmas Wreath Cookies are a delightful no-bake treat made with buttery marshmallows and crunchy cornflakes, shaped into wreaths and decorated with bright red candies. Perfect for holiday parties and easy to make with kids, these cookies bring a cheerful, colorful touch to your festive spread.

Ingredients

Scale

Wreath Base

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 6 drops green gel food coloring or 1 and 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups cornflakes

Decoration

  • 1 bottle of red hot candies or 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates such as mini M&M’s
  • Cooking spray (for greasing hands and mold)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and create a clean surface for the cookies to cool.
  2. Melt Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add Color and Flavor: Stir in the green food coloring and vanilla extract until the marshmallow mixture is uniformly green and smooth.
  4. Mix with Cereal: Gently fold the cornflakes into the marshmallow mixture, making sure all the cereal is evenly coated without crushing the flakes.
  5. Form Wreaths: Grease a 1/4 cup measuring cup with cooking spray, then pack it tightly with the cereal mixture. Turn the packed mixture out onto the prepared sheet pan. Using damp or greased fingers, press a hole in the center to shape a wreath.
  6. Decorate: Place red hot candies or red candy-coated chocolates around the wreath edges to mimic holly berries, enhancing the festive look.
  7. Cool and Set: Allow the wreath cookies to cool completely at room temperature until firm and set before serving.

Notes

  • Use damp or spray-coated fingers to prevent the sticky mixture from adhering while shaping the wreaths.
  • You can substitute cornflakes with similar cereals like Rice Krispies for a different texture.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature; best enjoyed within 2-3 days.
  • For a more intense green color, adjust food coloring quantity gradually to avoid affecting flavor.
