Scale
Butter Base
- 100g / 7 tbsp unsalted butter, softened, divided
Flavoring
- 1 large garlic clove, finely minced (about 1 tsp)
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp smoked paprika (can substitute with regular paprika)
- 1 tsp chili flakes / red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp cooking salt / kosher salt (halve if using table salt)
Instructions
- Sauté Garlic: In a small frying pan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp (15g) of the butter until it starts foaming. Add the finely minced garlic and cook while stirring for 30 seconds until it turns a very light golden color. Remove from heat and let it cool for 3 minutes, allowing the garlic to deepen in color and flavor.
- Mix Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, combine the remaining softened butter with Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, chili flakes, and salt. Pour the cooled garlic butter mixture over the bowl and stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Serve: Serve immediately with steak, or use as a flavorful condiment for other cooked meats, seafood, vegetables, or even steamed rice. The butter can also be chilled and stored for later use.
Notes
- This butter pairs exceptionally well with steak, especially cuts like Tomahawk.
- It works wonderfully on a variety of foods, from chicken and toast to steamed vegetables and rice.
- Sautéing the garlic rather than using it raw greatly enhances the garlic flavor, making it richer and less sharp.
