Description

Creamy Chicken Florentine features tender pan-fried chicken breasts cooked in a rich and savory garlic spinach white wine cream sauce. This elegant yet quick dish combines succulent chicken with a luscious sauce made from heavy cream, fresh spinach, garlic, and parmesan cheese, perfect for a satisfying dinner ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 large chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Flour (for dredging)

For Cooking and Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 2 cups (loosely packed) fresh baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Slice each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create 4 thinner pieces. Season both sides with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge each piece evenly in flour, coating all sides.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside on a plate. Remove the pan from heat briefly.
  3. Sauté Garlic: Return the pan to medium heat and add the remaining tablespoon of butter along with minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze and Reduce: Pour in the dry white wine, chicken broth, and sprinkle in the Italian seasoning. Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-5 minutes until the liquid reduces noticeably.
  5. Add Cream and Spinach: Stir in the heavy cream and let it bubble gently for 2 minutes. Then add the fresh baby spinach and stir until it wilts into the sauce.
  6. Finish Cooking Chicken: Return the cooked chicken pieces to the skillet with the sauce. Cook over medium heat for another 4-5 minutes, allowing the chicken to cook through and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. Serve: Sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese over the chicken and sauce. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve warm and enjoy your creamy Chicken Florentine.
