Description

Crispy Hashbrown Sausage Bites are the perfect bite-sized appetizer or snack, combining savory breakfast sausage, creamy cheese, and shredded hashbrowns into deliciously golden, cheesy morsels. Easy to prepare and irresistibly crunchy, they’re a hit at any party or breakfast gathering.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat & Dairy

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick

Vegetables

  • 4 cups frozen shredded hash browns

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking when your sausage bites are prepared.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the breakfast sausage, softened cream cheese, Bisquick, shredded hash browns, and shredded cheddar cheese. Use your hands or a sturdy spatula to thoroughly mix everything until well combined and evenly distributed.
  3. Shape the mixture: Scoop a portion of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form balls about 1 ½ inches in diameter. Repeat until all of the mixture is used and you have evenly sized balls for even baking.
  4. Arrange and prep for baking: Place the formed balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure to space them out so they won’t stick together as they bake.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the sausage bites for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Rotate the tray halfway through baking for even color.
  6. Serve: Let the bites cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm as a tasty breakfast or a party appetizer.

Notes

  • For best results, use cold shredded hashbrowns to help the mixture hold together.
  • This recipe can be made ahead—simply form the bites and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Try adding your favorite herbs or spices to the mixture for added flavor.
  • Serve with dipping sauces like ranch or spicy ketchup for extra deliciousness.
