Description

This simple guacamole recipe combines ripe avocados with fresh vegetables and herbs for a creamy, flavorful dip that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s quick to prepare, using basic ingredients like red onion, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro, salt, and fresh lime juice, resulting in a vibrant and healthy snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • ½ cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely diced
  • ½ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Slice the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mash Avocados: Using a potato masher or fork, mash the avocado to your desired consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
  3. Add Vegetables and Seasoning: Add the finely chopped red onion, seeded and chopped jalapeno, diced and seeded Roma tomatoes, chopped cilantro, salt, and freshly squeezed lime juice to the mashed avocado.
  4. Mix Thoroughly: Stir all ingredients together until well combined, adjusting texture and seasoning as desired.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate briefly to allow flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure avocados are perfectly ripe and free from bruises. Remove any brown spots before using.
  • Remove seeds and watery parts from tomatoes for better texture.
  • A potato masher makes mashing easier, but a fork or pastry cutter can be used.
  • Use only fresh lime juice as bottled juice won’t deliver the same bright flavor.
  • Red onion is preferred, but white onion can be substituted.
  • Cilantro provides the classic flavor, though flat parsley is a good alternative for those who dislike cilantro.
  • If jalapeno is unavailable, serrano pepper makes a suitable substitute.
  • For extra flavor, minced garlic can be added.
