Description

These Spaghetti Garlic Bread Bowls are a delicious combination of spaghetti bolognese served in a crispy, cheesy bread bowl. The ultimate comfort food that’s perfect for a cozy dinner.


Ingredients

Units Scale

Spaghetti Bolognese:

  • Spaghetti
  • Drizzle of Olive Oil
  • 1 medium White Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves of Garlic, finely diced
  • 500g / 1lb Minced/Ground Beef
  • 1 heaped tbsp Tomato Puree (Tomato Paste in US)
  • 80ml / 1/3 cup Red Wine (sub more beef stock)
  • 500g / 2 cups Tomato Passata (pureed/strained tomatoes in US)
  • 240ml / 1 cup Beef Stock
  • 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 bunch Fresh Basil, finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp EACH: Dried Oregano, Sugar
  • 20g / 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • Salt & Black Pepper, as needed

Bread Bowls:

  • 6x Crusty White Rolls
  • 100g / 7 tbsp Butter, melted
  • 30g / 1oz Parmesan (fresh dusty variety)
  • 1 heaped tbsp very finely diced Fresh Parsley
  • 3 cloves of Garlic, finely grated/minced then mashed into a paste with the side of your knife
  • 200g / 2 cups shredded Mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Prepare Spaghetti Bolognese: In a large pan, sauté onion and garlic, add beef, tomato puree, wine, passata, stock, Worcestershire sauce, basil, oregano, sugar, and Parmesan. Simmer.
  2. Cook Spaghetti: Cook spaghetti al dente. Preheat oven.
  3. Prepare Bread Bowls: Hollow out rolls, brush with garlic butter mixture.
  4. Combine and Bake: Toss cooked spaghetti with sauce, fill the bread bowls, top with mozzarella, bake until cheese melts.
  5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • Beef: Use 12% fat minced beef for flavor. Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Rolls: Use firm, crusty rolls. Bake briefly if needed to firm them up.
  • Breadcrumbs: Use excess bread as breadcrumbs.
  • Make Ahead: Sauce and garlic butter can be made ahead. Reheat sauce before adding pasta.
