Kabobs
- 2 pounds top sirloin steak, cut into large pieces
- 1 pound large shrimp, uncooked, peeled, deveined
Marinade
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak and Shrimp: Cut the sirloin steak into uniform large cubes, roughly 1¼ to 1½ inches, ensuring even cooking. Keep the shrimp peeled and deveined, ready for skewering.
- Marinate the Meat and Shrimp: In a gallon-sized Ziploc bag, combine the steak, shrimp, and all marinade ingredients. Squeeze out excess air, seal the bag, and massage the marinade over the ingredients. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, flipping occasionally to distribute flavors.
- Assemble the Kabobs: Thread the steak and shrimp pieces alternately onto metal or soaked wooden skewers, leaving space between pieces for even grilling. Discard remaining marinade.
- Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat. Arrange the skewers on the grill grates, ensuring they are not touching.
- Grill the Kabobs: Cook for 3-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook an additional 3-5 minutes. Check for desired doneness. Remove from grill and serve hot.
Notes
- Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
- Cook shrimp until opaque with a slight pink hue; avoid overcooking to prevent rubbery texture.
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or zucchini to enhance flavor and texture.
- Use a meat thermometer to check steak doneness: 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium.
- This recipe can be adapted with chicken or scallops instead of shrimp for variety.
