Dredge:
- 1/2 cup potato starch (substitute with cornstarch)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Egg Wash:
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 tsp salt
Breading:
- 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Prepare Potatoes: Peel and chop potatoes, steam until tender.
- Prepare Onions: Cut onions into rings.
- Assemble Filling: Slice cheese and place inside onion rings.
- Make Potato Mixture: Mash potatoes, add starch, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble Donuts: Wrap potato mixture around cheese-filled onion rings.
- Coat Donuts: Dredge in potato starch, egg wash, and bread crumbs.
- Fry: Fry donuts until golden brown.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
