Description

Strawberry Dessert Bruschetta is a delightful twist on the classic Italian appetizer, featuring toasted sourdough bread topped with a creamy Nutella and cream cheese spread, fresh diced strawberries, and toasted walnuts. This easy-to-make dessert combines rich, sweet, and crunchy textures for a crowd-pleasing treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 8 1/2-inch-thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Spread

  • 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup Nutella hazelnut spread

Toppings

  • 2 cups diced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush one side of each sourdough slice with the melted butter, then arrange them on the baking sheet with the buttered side facing up.
  2. Toast the Bread: Bake the bread slices for about 5 minutes or until they become golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and allow the toasts to cool completely to prevent the spread from melting.
  3. Prepare Nutella-Cream Cheese Spread: In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer and a bowl), beat together the cream cheese and Nutella until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Assemble the Bruschetta: Spread the Nutella and cream cheese mixture evenly over each toasted bread slice. Top generously with diced strawberries.
  5. Add Toasted Walnuts and Serve: Garnish each bruschetta with toasted chopped walnuts for added crunch and flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • To toast walnuts on the stovetop, place them in a small sauté pan over low heat and cook, stirring frequently, until they become fragrant, about 3 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle a tiny amount of powdered sugar on top before serving.
  • This dessert is best served fresh to keep the bread crisp.
